Director
Rony Ganguly is the Director of Pindrop Hearing and a highly respected Consultant Audiologist. He is a council member for the Association of Independent Hearing Healthcare Professionals (AIHHP) and is often consulted by hearing aid manufacturers as part of focus groups and advisory panels to drive quality and standards within the industry. He is regarded as one of London’s leading independent Audiologists. He is on the board of examiners for the Master’s degree program in Audiological Science at University College London Ear Institute.
Rony Ganguly is a graduate of the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) where he obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then went on to obtain a Masters degree in Audiological Science from University College London (UCL), qualifying in 1999.
Growing up I had always been interested in medicine, but loved Physics and engineering. Audiology was therefore the perfect choice for me as it combined both. I like being able to use science and technology to make a difference in the quality of people’s lives.
After qualifying he worked at the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital as an Audiologist. He then went on to Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, where he worked as an Audiological Scientist for the next seven years. During this time he was awarded the Certificate of Audiological Competence (CAC) by the British Academy of Audiology, following a rigorous period of clinical evaluations and written examination. This lead to registration with the Health Professions Council as a Clinical Scientist in Audiology, the highest level of clinical qualification achievable as an Audiologist in the UK.
In 2005 he returned to University College London to work as a Lecturer in Audiology at the UCL Ear Institute where he lectured both BSc and MSc Audiology students, many of whom are working as qualified Audiologists in NHS Hospitals or Private clinics in London today.
In 2006 he started Pindrop Hearing as a private Audiology practice, initially on a part time basis working from private hospitals and then in 2008 he was invited to set up the practice on a full time basis at 107 Harley Street, which is the base for several leading ENT Consultants’ private practices, the idea being that patients could receive a complete, high quality service encompassing all aspects of ENT and Audiology under one roof.
Today, Pindrop Hearing is seen as one of the leading independent Audiology practices in the UK, receiving referrals from top ENT consultants as well as London’s leading private General Practitioners. As well as his full time practice in Harley Street Mr Ganguly also consults from the Spire Bushey Hospital in Hertfordshire and The Chelsea Outpatients Centre, 280 Kings Road.Mr Ganguly regularly attends the European Union of Hearing Acousticians (EUHA) and the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) Annual conferences in Germany and the USA, so that he is always aware of the latest research and developments within the hearing aid industry
